Jorge Masvidal needed five seconds.
One run across the cage, one flying knee, and Ben Askren was out at UFC 239 before the crowd had finished standing up. That was July 2019, and nobody has finished a UFC fight faster since.
Every sport has a record book. The UFC keeps its own at statleaders.ufc.com, and most of what gets repeated about it (the longest streak, the fastest knockout, the most strikes in a fight) is copied from there without anyone checking the rules underneath. So we rebuilt it. Every record below is re-derived from 8,907 UFCStats bouts, from UFC 1 in November 1993 through UFC 331: Van vs. Pantoja 2 on September 19, 2026, and the rule behind each mark is written out at the bottom of the page.

Who holds the UFC records?
Islam Makhachev owns the longest UFC win streak at 17 straight, passing Anderson Silva's 16 in August 2026. Jorge Masvidal's five-second knockout of Ben Askren is the fastest finish ever. Max Holloway's 445 significant strikes, Khabib Nurmagomedov's 21 takedowns and Steven Nguyen's six knockdowns are the single-fight marks. Every number here is re-derived from 8,907 UFCStats fights.
I. The Longest Win Streaks
A win streak sounds like the simplest record in the book. It isn't, because it depends on what you allow to break it. This article uses the record-book rule: any result that isn't a win ends the streak. A loss does, a draw does, and so does a no contest.

Islam Makhachev has not lost since October 2015, when Adriano Martins knocked him out in the first round at UFC 192. The run since went through Charles Oliveira and, twice, Alexander Volkanovski at lightweight, then moved up to welterweight, where he beat Jack Della Maddalena in November 2025 to tie Anderson Silva's 16 and Ian Machado Garry on August 15, 2026 to pass it. Anderson Silva's 16 ran from June 2006 to October 2012 and ended with Chris Weidman's knockout at UFC 162 in July 2013. Kamaru Usman's 15 ended with Leon Edwards's fifth-round knockout in August 2022, and Merab Dvalishvili's 14 with his loss to Petr Yan in December 2025.
Five men share 13: Georges St-Pierre, Jon Jones, Khabib Nurmagomedov, Demetrious Johnson and Max Holloway. Khabib's is his entire UFC career, 13 fights and 13 wins. St-Pierre's ran to the end of his, through the 2017 win over Michael Bisping. Johnson's ended against Henry Cejudo in 2018, and we walked through it round by round in The Mighty Mouse. Amanda Nunes's 12, from 2015 to 2021, is the longest by a woman.
The Jones question. Jon Jones's 13 stops at UFC 214 in July 2017, at his second fight with Daniel Cormier, which is recorded as a no contest. Count only losses as streak-breakers and his run from March 2010 to November 2024 becomes 19 wins with that no contest in the middle, longer than anyone's under either rule. The UFC's own leaderboard doesn't count it that way either: it puts Makhachev, Silva and Usman on top. A streak is a run of wins, and a no contest isn't a win. The chart shows both versions.

0:06, Duane Ludwig over Jonathan Goulet, UFC Fight Night 3, January 2006. That is the UFCStats time, and it is the time the UFC itself adopted in 2011, when Dana White's production team clocked the knockout at 6.06 seconds. The Nevada State Athletic Commission's official time is still 0:11, and Ludwig has always said it took four. We use the UFCStats clock for every finish, so Ludwig is second.
Four knockouts share 0:07: Todd Duffee over Tim Hague (2009), Chan Sung Jung over Mark Hominick (2011), Ryan Jimmo over Anthony Perosh (2012) and Terrance McKinney over Matt Frevola (2021). Conor McGregor's 13-second knockout of Jose Aldo, the opening scene of The Notorious Arc, doesn't come close to this list.
The fastest submission comes from the one-night-tournament years: Oleg Taktarov over Anthony Macias in 0:09, at UFC 6 in July 1995. Ronda Rousey's submission of Cat Zingano at UFC 184 took 0:14 and shares second place with two tournament-era tap-outs, and it is the record in the UFC's own book, which doesn't reach back to 1995 (section VIII explains why).
The clock restarts every round, so every round has its own record. Arnold Allen beat Calvin Kattar eight seconds into the second round in 2022. Damir Hadzovic (2017) and Billy Quarantillo (2020) each ended a fight seven seconds into the third. Jared Cannonier stopped Gregory Rodrigues 21 seconds into the fourth in 2025, and Rafael Fiziev knocked out Rafael Dos Anjos 18 seconds into the fifth in 2022. 6 knockdowns. Steven Nguyen against Mohammad Yahya in July 2025, five of them in the first round. Forrest Petz (2006) and Jeremy Stephens (2017) share second with five.
22:18 of control. Sean Sherk controlled Hermes Franca for 22:18 of a five-round fight at UFC 73 in July 2007, and landed 16 takedowns doing it. Khamzat Chimaev controlled Dricus Du Plessis for 21:40 in August 2025, and Tito Ortiz controlled Vladimir Matyushenko for 21:32 in 2001. Jim Miller holds two of them. Nobody has fought in the UFC more often, and nobody has won there more often. His first UFC fight was in October 2008.

Royce Gracie finished his first 11 UFC opponents, from UFC 1 in November 1993 to UFC 4 in December 1994: ten submissions and one strike stoppage. The run ended at UFC 5 in April 1995, when his superfight with Ken Shamrock ended with no winner. All of it predates the UFC's own record book.
Anderson Silva finished 8 in a row from 2006 to 2008, and the streak ended with a win, not a loss: his 2009 fight with Thales Leites went to the scorecards. Chuck Liddell finished 7 straight between 2004 and 2006, all by knockout, until Quinton Jackson knocked him out in 2007. Charles Oliveira also finished 7 straight, from 2018 to 2020, five of them by submission, and that run ended the way Silva's did, with a decision win over Tony Ferguson in December 2020.

VII. The Active Board
Every other table in this article is a record that someone would have to break. This one is a race that is still being run: the longest current win streaks among fighters who have fought in the last two years, under the same rule as section I.
It is rebuilt from UFCStats after every card, so the stamp on the table matters more than anything written here. As of September 19, 2026, the board is led by Islam Makhachev at 17 straight.
The two-year window is mechanical. It doesn't know who has retired, only who has fought.

A loss, draw or no contest resets a streak. The two-year window counts who has fought, not who has retired.
VIII. Where This Differs From the Official Record Book
The UFC's record book and this one agree on most marks, to the second and to the strike. The differences come from four rules.
1. Where the book starts. The UFC's record book covers "all UFC fights from UFC 28 to the present." UFC 28, on November 17, 2000, was the first event under the Unified Rules. UFCStats goes back to UFC 1, so this article also counts the 261 bouts before UFC 28. That is why Oleg Taktarov's 0:09 submission and Royce Gracie's 11 straight finishes appear here and not there, and why the UFC lists Ronda Rousey as its fastest submission.
2. No contests break streaks. Any non-win ends a win streak here, including a no contest, which is also how the UFC's own leaderboard reads. Under a loss-only rule Jon Jones's run is 19 instead of 13 (section I).
3. Ludwig's clock. Duane Ludwig's knockout is 0:06 in UFCStats and in the UFC's book, 0:11 on the Nevada commission's official record, and four seconds by Ludwig's own count. This article uses the UFCStats time for every finish.
4. Round-by-round coverage. Strike, takedown and control records need UFCStats round data. It exists for 8,886 of the 8,907 bouts, including 1,252 of the 1,273 fought before 2010. The 21 early bouts without it can't hold a single-fight or single-round record here.

Methodology: Data from UFCStats.com, every bout on or before the as-of date stamped on each table; the tables and the live figures in the text are regenerated after every card by analysis/scripts/article23_ufc_records.py and checked by analysis/scripts/validate_article23.py. Fighters are grouped by UFCStats profile URL, not by name.
Win streak: consecutive wins in date order (bouts on the same night ordered by card position); any loss, draw or no contest ends it (COALESCE(winner = me, FALSE), so a bout with no winner is a non-win). The loss-only variant skips draws and no contests instead. Active board: a fighter's current streak, for fighters whose last UFC bout was within 730 days of the as-of date.
Fastest finish: wins by KO/TKO or Submission only (every Decision% result, DQ, draw and no contest excluded), ranked by the elapsed time in the round the fight ended, as UFCStats records it. Consecutive finishes: consecutive wins by KO/TKO or Submission; any other result, including a decision win, ends the run.
Single-fight and single-round marks: round_stats summed per fight and fighter (per round for the round board): sig_str_landed, takedowns_landed, knockdowns, submission_attempts, reversals, and control_time parsed from M:SS with -- treated as missing.
Career counts: fights with a result; wins; decision wins (method LIKE 'Decision%', which includes UFCStats's unanimous, split and majority labels); Octagon time as (finish_round − 1) × 5 min + finish_time, which assumes five-minute rounds. That holds for everyone in the Octagon-time ranking, all of whom debuted at UFC 28 or later.
What this is not: title defenses are excluded, because the database cannot identify a title fight reliably. Career averages (strikes per minute, accuracy, finish rate) live on our Stat Leaders page; single-fight, streak and fastest-finish records live here.
