Wang Cong lands 8.00 significant strikes a minute at women's flyweight and absorbs 3.37.
That gap, +4.63 a minute, is the widest of the 58 women with four or more UFC fights in the division. Nobody at 125 pounds out-lands her opponents by more. She is also tied for the best accuracy in the division, 58.1%, with Poliana Botelho.
On October 3 she fights Natalia Silva for the vacant women's flyweight title in the main event of UFC 332 at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City, with the main card on CBS and Paramount+. The belt is open because Valentina Shevchenko told the UFC she could not compete for at least a year. According to CBS Sports, it is the first time women have headlined a numbered UFC card since UFC 289 in 2023.
Wang is a 34-year-old southpaw from Liaoning, China, and she walks out as "The Joker". Before MMA she won sanda gold at the 2013 World Wushu Championships and the 2014 Asian Games, then boxing silver at the 2019 amateur world championships. In October 2015, at Kunlun Fight 33, she beat Valentina Shevchenko by unanimous decision in a kickboxing bout. Shevchenko made her UFC debut seven weeks later. Wang got her own contract on Road to UFC Season 3 in May 2024, with a first-round guillotine of Paula Luna.
This is the second edition of Prospect Watch, after Quillan Salkilld, and the series' first woman. The series is for fighters with fewer than seven UFC fights; Wang has six. It is a thin sample, and the numbers below say so where it matters.
What is Wang Cong's fight record?
Wang Cong is 5-1 in the UFC and 10-1 as a professional. Her only loss was a second-round technical submission (rear-naked choke, per Sherdog) to Gabriella Fernandes in November 2024. Across six UFC fights she has landed 478 significant strikes at 57.9% accuracy and absorbed 197, a +281 differential, and opponents have landed 4 of 28 takedown attempts.
I. Six Fights, One Submission

The UFC career runs to 4,191 seconds, just under 70 minutes, across 15 rounds. All six fights were three-rounders.
It opened fast. On August 24, 2024, Wang stopped Victoria Leonardo in 62 seconds, landing 10 significant strikes and absorbing one. Three months later in Macau came the loss, and it came from ahead: she out-landed Gabriella Fernandes 46 to 18 over the fight, but Fernandes dropped her in the second round and finished a rear-naked choke at 3:49. That is still the only knockdown she has absorbed in the UFC.
Four straight decisions followed. Bruna Brasil at UFC 312: 103 landed to 31, plus both of Wang's UFC takedowns. Ariane da Silva at UFC 316: 143 to 63 and a knockdown, the most significant strikes she has landed in a fight. Eduarda Moura in February 2026, at catch weight: 39 to 12. Tracy Cortez at UFC 329 in July: 137 to 72.
Across all six fights, including the Moura bout, she has landed 478 of 826 significant strikes (57.9%) and absorbed 197, which works out to 6.84 landed and 2.82 absorbed a minute. She has scored three knockdowns and taken one. In no fight has an opponent landed more significant strikes than she did.
II. The Flyweight Ledger

The division table uses only bouts contested at women's flyweight, which drops the catch-weight Moura fight and leaves Wang with five fights and 54.9 minutes. Everyone else is measured the same way: 58 women with four or more flyweight fights, strikes landed minus strikes absorbed, divided by the time they actually fought. The chart opens on the top 15; the toggle shows all 58.
Wang is first at +4.63. Carli Judice is second at +3.99 over five fights. Natalia Silva is third at +2.45 across eight, landing 4.81 a minute and absorbing 2.36. The median fighter in the table sits within a tenth of a strike of even, which is what a zero-sum stat should do.

The regulars give the scale. Joanne Wood is fourth at +2.42 over 12 fights. JJ Aldrich and Katlyn Cerminara, 14 flyweight fights each, sit at −0.55 and +0.01. Valentina Shevchenko is 11th at +1.37 over 14 fights, and she absorbs the fewest strikes in the division, 1.81 a minute. Silva's last three wins came against Jessica Andrade, Alexa Grasso and Rose Namajunas, all former UFC champions.
The caveat is minutes. Wang's rate rests on 54.9 minutes of flyweight fighting. Silva's rests on 104.4. Shevchenko's rests on 272.8. Wang's number is the most extreme in the table and rests on fewer minutes than most of it. Both things are true at once.
III. Offense First

The two-way view is where the differential comes apart into its halves, and they are not equal.
Offense is the outlier. Wang lands 8.00 a minute against a division median of 3.76, at 58.1% accuracy against a median of 44.4%. Almost 30% of what she lands goes to the legs, 29.8% at flyweight, seventh-highest of the 58 and nearly double the median of 15.6%. Against Cortez, 32 of her 137 went low. And 434 of her 478 UFC significant strikes, 90.8%, landed at distance.
Defense is good, not extreme. She absorbs 3.37 a minute, under the median of 3.94 but only 21st-lowest of 58. Her strike defense, 60.1%, is 18th. Silva's profile runs the other way: 66.3% strike defense (fifth) and 2.36 absorbed a minute (eighth-fewest), on less output. Silva's case is built on not getting hit; Wang's is built on hitting.
The takedown numbers are the strongest defensive line. At flyweight, opponents have landed 1 of 16 takedowns on her, a 93.8% defense rate, second only to Cynthia Calvillo, whose flyweight opponents went 0 for 3. Silva is third at 90.3%.
The honest counter-case is the fight that does not count in that table. At catch weight, Eduarda Moura landed 3 of 12 takedowns and controlled Wang for 486 seconds, a little over eight minutes of a 15-minute fight. Wang still out-landed her 39 to 12, knocked her down once and won the decision. Across all six UFC fights, opponents are 4 for 28 on takedowns.
IV. What to Watch
The numbers describe what Wang has done. Here is where they run out.
Rounds four and five. Wang has fought 15 UFC rounds and Silva 22, and neither has been past the third. A title fight is scheduled for five. Every number above comes from fights scheduled for three.
The takedown question. Wang has tried three takedowns in six UFC fights and landed two, both against Bruna Brasil. Silva has stopped 90.3% of the takedowns tried on her at flyweight and has landed 3 of 10 of her own. Both have done their work standing: 94.4% of Silva's UFC significant strikes landed at distance, against Wang's 90.8%.
One shared opponent. Both have fought Victoria Leonardo. Wang stopped her at 1:02 of the first round in August 2024; Silva stopped her at 2:58 of the first round in May 2023. Silva is 8-0 in the UFC, with two stoppages and six decisions, and UFC.com lists her on a 14-fight winning streak.
Six fights, one loss that came while she was ahead on strikes, and the widest differential in the division. A seventh UFC fight takes her past the Prospect Watch ceiling, so this is her only edition.
